WE ARE EXCITED to announce our 2013 Tuscarora Migration Project; a 1,300 mile, 70-day relay style event to commemorate the 300-year remembrance  of our Tuscarora Migration home. Our team of indigenous youth and their supportive brothers and sisters will cross through six states starting from Fort Nooherooka, Snow Hill, NC to our Tuscarora Nation, Lewiston, NY.

Along the way we will pass through North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York. The event will wrap up at our finish line party, where we will celebrate our 1,300 mile accomplishment with free music and food. Follow us daily on our Migration map HERE.

OUR MISSION is to migrate via running, hiking, walking, biking and canoeing utilizing the strength and spirit of our native youths. We will be sharing our Tuscarora story and bring awareness to our three objectives:

  • Share our Tuscarora story of amazing indigenous survival

  • Bring attention to climate shift

  • Raise awareness about the need for more "human-powered" movement

THE PROJECT WILL BEGIN immediately after the "Nooherooka 300th Anniversary Commemoration" at Eastern Carolina University in Greenville, NC, March 21-23, 2013. Our kick-off is on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 9am near the Fort Nooherooka monument in Snow Hill, NC.
